Suspect Steals Tractor after Abandoning Stolen Vehicle

On 05/31/2024 at 6:52 PM dispatch received a 911 call about a male who had stolen a tractor near the
intersection of W Lowell Rd and N 250 W then drove it several hundred yards into a field before being
caught by the tractor owner. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Deputies later located the suspect
urinating in a roadway.

The suspect, Derrick Jordan 20yo of McCordsville, IN, ran away from deputies into a nearby field
however was quickly apprehended. During a search of Jordan a vehicle key belonging to a Lexus
passenger car and multiple vehicle registration cards to a Lexus were found in Jordan’s pocket.

A BMV check on the Lexus vehicle information found that the vehicle was reported stolen in
McCordsville. Deputies later located the stolen Lexus in a nearby interstate rest stop.

Jordan was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on the following charges: 2 charges of theft of a
motor vehicle, public indecency and resisting law enforcement. Jordan remains in custody on a 48 hour
hold.

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
