Allegation involves possession of methamphetamine

On 07/02/2024 at approximately 12:07 AM Deputy Max Medina initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in
the area of N US 31 and N Horizon Dr. The vehicle committed a moving violation and had an equipment
violation as well.

When Deputy Medina approached the vehicle and made contact with the two occupants. During the
traffic stop a search was conducted, during the search a glass smoking device with residue was located
inside the vehicle, the passenger Marlon Cowan Jr 48yo of Columbus, told deputies that the pipe was
his. Cowan also informed deputies that he had methamphetamine in his left pants pocket.

Approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine was collected from Cowan’s pocket. Cowan was
transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and
possession of paraphernalia. He remains in custody on a $41,000.00 bond.

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
